Woohoo! We have just entered a new year and what an amazing year it is shaping up to be!
Blanche & I are looking forward to a few small family holidays as well as a more luxurious extended break in the UK and South of France by the year end. Our digital life is certainly in full swing!
We have set some massive goals to achieve in the areas of health and fitness, relationships and of course our ever growing online business and we want you to take the time over the next few days to do the same.
Here are our tips to get you on your way:
1. Aim BIG
Don’t just aim for small, everyday changes that will be accepted to everyone around you. That’s not what we are about here at Digital Life Mentors, after all. Aim for the things that make your peer group say “Wow, really!?! That sounds fantastic. If only I could do that!”.
Don’t just aim to increase your income so you can cover a few extra bills or upgrade your tv. Aim to whisk the family away on a month long holiday in a foreign land. Or, aim to quit your 9-5 (or 8-7 more realistically) and no longer answer to your annoying and potentially under qualified boss.
Tim Ferriss himself states:
“It’s lonely at the top. 99% of the world is convinced they are incapable of achieving great things, so they aim for the mediocre middle-ground. The level of competition is thus fiercest for “realistic” goals, paradoxically making them the most time- and energy-consuming.”
2. Be specific
If you want to escape that job that is dragging you down and start an online business, then state by when and what you will be moving on to in great detail! How much will you be earning per month when that day comes where you can tell them where they can stick their timesheets!
If you want time with your family or friends, then be specific about what that means. Does it mean being there to help out on your daughters Kindergarten roster, or picking the kids up once a week or catching up for a round of golf with your mates every Sunday!
You cannot have enough detail – go crazy on the detail! – this is what will make it real in your mind!
3. Set deadlines
Your brain works most effectively if you set smaller deadlines within your longer term overall plan. Ideally make them 90 days or less.
Perhaps, as of tomorrow you will be taking the dog out for a walk every morning at 6am. You will not be hesitating to get out of bed because you will love having that hour alone with your thoughts and to set up your day, every day! You will breathe in the fresh air, improve your fitness and arrive back home ready to tackle anything that comes your way each day.
Note: We don’t believe in doing things half heartedly here at Digital Life Mentors, we like to jump straight in but at the end of the day, don’t decide that as of tomorrow you are going to start running 4km each morning when you haven’t exercised in months because that is not going to work with any other part of your life. Being exhausted and sore, will not help kickstart that new life and may mean you give up before really giving it a chance to take flight. Instead start with a 15 minute walk and think about all the awesome things already in your world and return home with a massive smile on your face, knowing that the future looks amazing! 🙂
To enable you to quit your job by the end of the year, you could submit your application for training with SFM immediately and then complete a training session every day. Depending on how hard you work, you could be ready to go within 1-2 weeks and start earning while you learn in no time.
4. Be confident and believe in yourself
Anyone can do what we are doing! That is no secret. You don’t have to be a tech genius to earn significant money online and give away your day job. (All the systems are set up for you. That’s what makes the SFM !) You just have to commit to what you want, be confident in your decision making and believe in yourself.
This reminds me of another quote… “If you are insecure, guess what? The rest of the world is too. Do not overestimate the competition and underestimate yourself. You are better than you think.”
And, this leads me to the final tip…
5. Take immediate action!
Do something, anything RIGHT NOW towards achieving each of those goals.
If it’s about exercising in the morning, then set the alarm now and go to bed for a good night sleep so you are not struggling to get up. Tell your wife thats what you are doing and not to let you hit that snooze button, no matter what!
If it’s to spend more time with your wife and kids, schedule it right now in yours and your wife’s diary. Shoot off an email to book that babysitter for a romantic night out. Heck, head in to your wife and tell her how amazing she looks – she will appreciate it believe me.
Do whatever you have to do to get momentum and do it right now!
If you put these things in place, you will achieve your wildest dreams this year, not by the time you retire.
